Just trying to get a general idea on how much to a value a stein when it’s original lid (inlay) has been replaced with a pewter lid. I know there is a lot of “what if’s” to this question, but just trying to get an general idea. The year of the stein is 1900. Thanks for your time!
Generally, pewter lids were more expensive than inlay lids. Collectors, however, favor the inlay lids, so they have more value today. You generally had a choice of lids, so your stein might have come that way. If you can find some completed deals for your stein on ebay that have both types of lids, you can get an idea of the price difference.
