Confirmation J Goldschmidt stamp VERY WORN

    I picked up This BEAUTIFUL stein at an antique shop for $18 (what a steal, right?)
    Anyway, the closest I can find to the markings is POSSIBLY a 1885-1907 Jakob Goldschmidt. I don’t know what the “79” on the bottom or the “830” on the side elude to..
    It’s a shame the bottom is so worn, but hell, if I was 140 years old, I’d be worn too..

      Blake,

      Goldschnidt made the pewter lid. The body is by another firm. Go to steinmarks.co.uk to learn more about Goldschmidt. The scene is a painting by Franz Defregger called the Zither Player. I couldn’t find a matching form in any og the catalogs.
