I picked up This BEAUTIFUL stein at an antique shop for $18 (what a steal, right?)
Anyway, the closest I can find to the markings is POSSIBLY a 1885-1907 Jakob Goldschmidt. I don’t know what the “79” on the bottom or the “830” on the side elude to..
It’s a shame the bottom is so worn, but hell, if I was 140 years old, I’d be worn too..
Goldschnidt made the pewter lid. The body is by another firm. Go to steinmarks.co.uk to learn more about Goldschmidt. The scene is a painting by Franz Defregger called the Zither Player. I couldn’t find a matching form in any og the catalogs.
