The stein in the photo is my great great grandfather’s, I dont have it in my possession, I know it’s a long shot to identify, but a starting place would be a big help.
I actually hope to locate one and purchase for my fathers 80th birthday

      Joe,
Too blurry. Do you have any clearer photos?

Yes, it’s the best i have, picture is circa 1947, taken in Bavaria, appears to be hand painted, I think the top looks to be mallech, it’s a bit of a forensic puzzel

      Joe,
Can you make out any of the words on the stein?

No, I was hoping some one could identify the maker based on characteristics to narrow it down, then I would go through the molds one by one. Based on the color I am wondering if this might be porcelain

      Joe,
With so little information it might be easier to find a needle in a haystack.

      James,

You should start a new post for your question. Go to The Beer Stein Library (listed under Reading) and check out mold 402 in the Rosskopf & Gerz catalog.
