Hello I stumbled on your group while trying to find information about my stein. I found it at a flea market for $15. I told the gentlemen that it had no handle or lid and would give him $10 for it.

I have had this stein since about 2013, I purchased it for my wife who adores steins and found a gent that says if I can find a picture of the handle he will fix it, I’m hoping someone can assist me.

I have 5 images of it but if anything additional is needed please do let me know.

Your stein was made by Albert Jacob Thewalt circa 1960-1980. I couldn’t find the four liter version, but I did find the two liter version, mold 603 in The Beer Stein Library at The Beer Stein Library has a Westerwald Handle Gallery. Select AJT and it will show some of the handles they made. I would suggest AJT 3, 4, 9, 11, 12, 16, or 42. I don’t know how much he is going to charge or what kind of work he will do, but you won’t be restoring it to its mint value. Take a look at what newer 4 L steins are going for. They go for about 1/2 that value in the after market.

Thank you so much for responding I’m ok with it not being mint. My wife adored it, unfortunately she has since passed but I figured it would be nice to get it fixed.
