I have recently acquired s stein purchased in Germany in the early 1950s. Doing some dogged research on line I have discovered that this is not a repro, it appears to be the real deal. Actually, Collectors Weekly had an article on the same stein but a different soldier’s name. It has been dropped at some point and the infantry man finial has a bent rifle. I have not cleaned it or mucked about with it because I did not wish to hurt its value. I have an entire series of photos of it I would be happy to share. Do you think the bent gun will ruin its value? It’s one of the most beautiful steins I’ve ever seen. I grew up in Germany and my dad collected Heidleberg student steins, but this beats all of those. Thanks in advance for any advice or help.
