Generally an angel stamp on any pewter item means “lead free”.

Mold # 1784 is listed in The Beer Stein Library. It is a Marzi & Remy 1 Liter. Comes in two color or full color. Titled there as Gnomes Drinking. Your translation is spot on.

I always say there is more than one way to skin a cat, so you can upload your pictures to a sharing site like flicker or photobucket and then post a link to that page. I upload a lot to dropbox as that service is free and gives a large amount of storage. But my favorite way of sharing stein pics is to share a link to my collection at mysteincollection.com. Here is an example http://www.mysteincollection.com/catalogue/searchitem.php?user=231&liststyle=images&submit=go+to+my+catalogue

I also found a little more info in the character stein book now that I know what to look for.

Thanks Ron. You are dead on about the thumblift. Attached to handle as well as lid with screws.
