I can't tell you who made it, but Western Germany dates it to 1949-1990. If there is a hole or indentations in the top of the handle, it is considered a lidless stein. If there isn't a hole or indentations, it is considered a mug. Large steins, however, sometimes came with a detachable lid. The scene is of old Germans, not Vikings. I don't think this stein is 6,0 L. Based on the height and narrow appearance, I would say it is 2,0 L or 3.0 L capacity at max. Ron
