Chris, It looks exactly like the J.W. Remy handles. I also found another page that explains a lot: http://www.charactersteins.com/csbook/jwremy.htm It states that very few character steins made by Remy had a factory mark. By description, my stein would fall into the pre-war era. It has an unglazed base and the mold number (1090) is earlier than the post war series. I do hope I can find a more exact date for this, though. Thank you, Tom
