David, The Beer Stein Library does not show form 3 in the Hanke catalog. My book on Reinhold und August Hanke does show form 3 on page 82. This is a pokal rather than a stein. The Hanke version differs from the Thewalt version. The banner under the coat of arms on the Hanke version bends upward rather than downward on the Thewalt version. The center on the Hanke version shows a medallion. I found a translation for the verse which you can confirm if it appears on your Thewalt version as follows from The Beer Stein Library: “'Trink mit Freuden, halt dich bescheiden.” (Drink with joy, keep it to a modest amount.) Since a pokal is a ceremonial drinking cup, the medallion on the Hanke version may indicate it was for a special event. I can't make out the wording or picture shown on the medallion. The description in the book seems to be: "Ranken, Wappen und Löwen als Schildalter. I couldn't get a translation. If someone could help, it would be appreciated. The book is in German, but if I find further mention of Form 3, I will update my post. Ron
