Stewart:Thanks for the info. I found a brief mention of military thing on the internet with no info with it so I took a shot. I mentioned it to a friend of mine in the army. He was sceptical about it but said that he thought that the WACs,WAVEs etc. were briefly brought under one umbrella before they were absorbed into the regular military. I expect the food convention is the most likely source for the mugs. Bruce
