The text should be reversed. The following is from The Beer Stein Library: “Keinen Tropfen im Becher mehr,und der Beutel schlaff und leer" (No more drops in the beaker, and the purse is slack and empty.) The partial text is from the poem “Die Lindenwirtin,” written by Rudolph Baumbach in 1876 and set to music in 1878 by Franz Wilhelm Abt. The poem honors Ännchen Schumacher (1860-1935), perhaps the most famous landlady/tavern keeper in German history and a popular figure with German students. Seit 1862 (since 1862) indicates this is a contemporary stein. The value would probably be nominal if it is a 0,5 L relief stein. You would need to post a photo for more help. Ron
