I get it at Lowes, but I'm sure most hardware stores carry it, perhaps even back east. Ask for museum putty or museum wax. Museum wax is different--semi-clear and a bit stickier, but will do the same thing if no "earthquake putty" or museum putty. It is not sticky enough to take paint, finish, etc off a stein. You simply turn the stein a bit to get it to release if using to secure the stein to a shelf as I do.
