David, Assuming that what you read as a "J" is actually an "I" (they look alike in Fraktur), the saying would translate roughly as "If only we got together more often, the deed would have been done - My darling and I would have a dear little one". In High German, it would be something like "Wenn wir oefter zusammen kaemen, werde es schon gereift, meine Ich - Ich und mein Schatz haetten ein liebes kleines." Does this correspond with whatever is pictured on the stein?
