Justin, This same lid appears on M&R 1617 and 1899 in The Beer Stein Library. I reviewed the HR steins in The Beer Stein Library and only five showed the ceramic insert lid (222, 400 414 441 and 533). None of these inserts were like the one on M&R 1617 and 1899 and none of them were caricatures or cartoonlike. Most of the HR steins shown have a pewter lid, although several more had a ceramic insert that was not shown in a separate photo. I think the HR stein in the eBay listing has had an M&R lid put on it. Ron
