Timeframe, for usage of the different terms of " German made steins" after WWII. After WWII May 1945 Germany was in ruins, the 4 victorious powers divided Germany in 4 occupation zones and was under military rules: French: South West. British: North West. US: South. Soviet East. A general guidline: a beer stein which says "Made in the US Zone" would have been made between 1946-1949 (not likley 1945) same with the other zones. As of May 1949 Germany got its new constitution the new name was and still is the " Federal Republic of Germany" The Soviets didn't go along with the allies and established their own East Germany. If manufacturers put on their ware " Made in Western Germany" not to be confused with East-Germany, I would say up to the 70's we find mostly "Made in West Germany" after that time simply "Made in Germany" East Germany didn't export to the west anyway. After the unification 1989 there was only "Made in Germany" This Question was asked sometimes ago.
