I purchased a stein today and I found it in the mettlach book and the beer stein library. It is #1038 but it does not have any of the mettlach marks on it. all it has is a hand inscribed 1038 with a 6. underneath that. Also a 59 written in blue. It has a pewter lit with a very elaborate thumb lift of a goats head with a crown or helmet. I was wondering if this was common to have no marks and also how much would the lid effect the value? Also any ideas on the age? Thanks in advance for any information.
