Noah,1038 is a 1.0L Mosaic Inlay Floral design.I am No expert on Mettlachs but it seems that maybe someone replaced the lid,59 could be the quality control number?Mettlach takes pride in marking their steins,1038 schould be IMPRESSED in the bottom along with its other markings.You might want to email Walt about this if you want to.Go to SCI Home Page,click on chapters,scroll down to Pacific Stein Sammler and click on Walt Vogdes for some answers.The bottom markings does not sound right,Walt would know more about this than I do.David
