Thank you so much for your information. Yes, I believe that is a 'w' worn a bit rather than an 'n'. Though I can't remember exactly when my parents traveled in Germany, I know it was when the Berlin wall was still up. Under the handle it looks like it might say 18 oz. I appreciate your info and will include it along with the 'Brief note about German steins' article that I printed. I know that my nephew will love it because it was his grandfather's and, being of drinking age, I expect he may put it to some use!
