Links to a side view and the base of Noah's stein are below. I don't remember
ever seeing a hand-scratched form number on the base of a Mettlach stein, and
this practice does not seem to be mentioned in Kirsner's books. That might
conceivably indicate that this example was a prototype, not yet released to
production, but I am not the person to answer that. Hopefully others will be
able to shed some light on this curiosity.
