HI---I have a really rare, super pristine, large mettlach that I aquired 11 yrs. ago from a major auction hose and it is FLAWLESS but I am just now noticing that on the pewter lid there is a little bit of staining/oxidation. Now, normally, this wouldn't bother me AT ALL but from a distance this mark makes it look as though the lid is damaged/bent/dinged slightly. But, as I said, it is just an oxidation stain and is, upon close inspection 100% smooth and consistent (no damage or scrapes). BUT, being the perfectionist that I am, it just bothers me, b/c it is right on the front of the lid. I don't DARE clean it.........any suggestions on how to make it less noticeable??
