Hi Laura, Nice stein. Unfortunately, as Ron has suggested, relief Thewalt steins do not command prices similar to etched Mettlachs. With your permission, I'd like to use some of your photos to create a listing for Thewalt 183 in the Beer Stein Library for future researchers. Please advise. In the meantime, a reasonable auction estimate for your stein in today's market would be something like $60-$80 in mint condition. Thewalt reproduced a version of same design without the recessed base circa 1980, which currently sells for around $25. Earlier versions (i.e., circa 1900) were almost certainly also produced without the recessed base and would sell in about the same price range as yours. Hope that helps.
