Although the potential for finding manufacturer's catalog evidence is somewhere between slim and none, I was able to find some images on the web that would appear to pretty clearly support Ken's Knecht Ruprecht thesis. Add to that the child-size configuration of the stein and the fact that the folklore surrounding Knecht Rupricht is intended to convince German children to be well-behaved, and the evidence becomes pretty convincing. In any event, it was enough to convince me, and the BSL listing cited in your Featured Stein article has been revised accordingly.
