Adam, Your stein is a black-handled Marzi & Remy. The SMS Blitz is not listed in the regimental books I have, but it was a light cruiser launched in 1882 and destroyed or scrapped after WWI in 1922, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cruisers_of_Germany The German phrase at the top is "He woh has faithfully served his time, deserves a full beer stein." It is named to Reservist Eckhadt. Ron
