Sam, I think there was probably a base for your keg so that cups or small steins to be filled without having to place it on the edge of the table. Since the mold number is 856B, there were probably cups or steins that went with it and they would have been numbered 856 or 856A. I have a Gerz pitcher and six smaller steins. The pitcher is numbered 275 and the steins are numbered 275B. They are all etched and tell the story of The Black Whale at Absalom. You should search eBay or German eBay to see if you can complete your set. Sets make a nice display piece. It looks like your keg had a place to pack ice in it. I'm thinking this might have been designed for serving wine or punch rather than beer. Steve collects a lot of different drinking vessels, so you might want to contact him at his web site. Just don't ask him why all those vikings are in the middle of the forest fighting Romans. And don't ask him about prices, although I have a feeling he might try buying this one from you. Ron
