I have assumed that the pottery and the pewter were from the same period. Of course the pottery might be earlier, but it would have had to survive WWII. The number of Made in Germany's I have seen on obvious post war steins, makes me think that it was used extensively. Wiedamann purchased steins from Merkelbach, but I assume he also had the freedom to purchase elsewhere.
