I have a Royal Winton Grimwades tankard that has a music box contained in the bottom. The glass is marked Made in England. On the underside of the wood where the musicbox is mounted it is stamped Nov 11 1940. The (brass?) musicbox mechanism is stamped Made in Switzerland. I can't read the company name fully, but it is "Thoreiis", "Thoreus", or "Thorems", or "Thorews". The music reel plays when turned manually, but the coiled metal spring attached the winding key is broken (appears to have snapped into pieces rahter than being a coil). My father gave it to me so I'm not too interested in selling it, but would like to know its value and if its possible and worthwhile to have the spring replaced. Thanks for the information - it is much appreciated. --Mike Sebring
