Paul, There are books that specialize in specific areas of stein collecting, for example character steins. Until you know what area you would focus on, I would hesitate in picking up a specialized book. The Beer Stein Book a 400 year history is a good generalized book. However I would strongly suggest joining the Beer Stein Library. It has more information than any single book, and is constantly growing and being updated. try: www.beerstein.net
