Thanks Ron. You are spot on regarding improving the appearance for display purposes. I would want to do as little as possible to make the figure, horse, etc more distinct for viewing. There is a banner at the bottom which may have given info about where the unit was stationed, but the lettering is faint or unreadable due to wear, I cannot make out a pattern of letters even under magnification.
