The figure on the lid is definitely the Munich Child, supporting the shield of Bavaria and I believe the shield of the city of Munich. The lid of the stein, which is original, provides good basis for establishing the date as early 20th century. The overall shape (profile) of the lid as well as the thumblift are representative of the artistic changes which were taking place during that era.
