Robert - Here is a link to a German site with information about the Geismann Brauerei - http://www.uni-protokolle.de/Lexikon/Brauerei_Geismann.html - Below I have made a summary translation of the information. Hope you find this helpful. The former brewery Geismann was founded in 1722 in Furth by the family Lederer. In the middle of the 1860s it was acquired by the family Geismann and they gave the brewery their family name. The big breakthrough for the brewery occurred in 1884 with the discovery of the double boch beer Poculator. For many decades the famous Poculator was served to the masses in the Geismannsaal. The popular double boch was served in Wuerzburg, Schweinfurt and even in Berlin. In 1967 the Geismann Brewery merged with the Humbser Brewery and in 1971 was absorbed by the Patrizier Brewery. The six point star, or hexagram is actually the Brewer's Star, not the Star of David. The six points of the hexagram represent the 6 key ingredients of beer - water, hops, grain, malt, yeast and the brewer. Here is a link to a website with info about the Brewer's Star http://www.beerhistory.com/library/holdings/brewerstar.shtml The "G" inside the hexagram would be representative of the brewery Geismann. I'd like to see some photos of your stein, can you post some? Walter
