I went to the PA Keysteiners' 25th anniversary celebration in Harrisburg on Nov 18-20th. I had previously owned a 1/2 L Thirsty Knight that I bought when I first joined ebay back in 2000. I later found out that it had a very minute glaze flake on the handle and I sold it last year as i had always wanted the 1L version, anyway, and didn't want an imperfect, smaller stein. For the last almost 12 years; I have resisted the temptation to buy. Well, one came up for auction the Weds. before I was to leave and I DID NOT anticipate finding one in Harrisburg, so I finally decided to pulled the trigger. It would be a rememberance and considered part of my trip expense. Wouldn't you know it!! In Harrisburg a dealer had one for $150 LESS!! I was SICK! I did notice two small flecks inside the ivory white underside of the Mettlach inlaid lid and some of the green paint on the outside of the lid border by the rim of the pewter lid was worn off by the thumblift and tang--I thought that was NORMAL WEAR and did not think about it anymore than that. I also noticed that the lid was FLOPPY and likely a repair or a replacement, although I couldn't be sure. Well, I got mine today and the lid is TIGHT as a drum, NO issues, green paint intact & NO marks on the inside white areas or ANYWHERE else!! I am WELL PLEASED, as I now KNOW that I got the better MINT stein, although it didn't seem that way at the time!!! Prosit to Alles!!
