I recently picked up this stein and I was curious about the finial. It almost looks like it would have been a screw off, but there is no threading around the top. Additionally, right under the top there is a band of pewter (I assume it's pewter) that is shiny and not aged like the rest of the top. I don't think the pewter has been modified/tampered with as it's a seamless transition. Wondering if anyone knew about this type of finial style or could tell me anything more about it.
