hello Adrian, the picture you show is quite small and the words below the decoration are unreadable, so I cannot help you there. Model number 1431 is indeed by Villeroy & Boch, and this model was used for several different decorations from. It was produced probably in the late 1880's or 1890's. There may be a 2-digit yearnumber on the base of your stein, for instance '95', indicating a production date of the stein body in 1895. The Mettlach book (4th Ed. 2005) lists this model with a value in mint condition of between 200 and 450 dollars, depending also on which scene is painted on it. Value however is greatly influenced by many factors, including condition, sales platform & description, market conditions, etcetera. If you can post more detailed images including one of the base markings, maybe one of visitors of this forum will be able to give you more information still. Enjoy your pretty stein!
