Checking my WEKARA's, a number was used for the same scenes on the same body style over a period of time regardless of the size. If this is one of the bulbous bodies with the cobalt glaze, you will find the older steins with a gray body with a moderately heavy pewter lid, while newer models with the same number will appear to be almost white and have a flat, light non-pewter lid. Of course, we don't know that the stein in question isn't cylindrical, or tan, or in full color.
