Why do people persist in believing you can date a stein by the mold numbers? Factories did not start with mold #1 and then #2, and then #3, etc. Mold numbers, more often than not are based on product type and were assigned in blocks of numbers. Also factories made more than steins, much more and all the other products were also assigned numbers in blocks. So you will find a group of numbers for butter dishes and vases right in the middle of two groups of stein numbers.
