Absolutely! If the stein is basemarked with Western Germany, then we have a pretty solid indicator that even if the design and mold was created and numbered in 1890, the production date was between 1949 and 1999. I'm a little less trusting about the type of hinge being a reliable indicator. If you are knowledgable enough to tell from the type of pewter used, fine. But hinges that are made today are often made in the style of older hinges, especially if the piece is a quality reproduction of an older piece.
