I appreciate all the information that everyone has provided. Can a pewterer"s touchmark help in the identification? I have one M&R stein that has a touchmark inside the lid near the tang which definately seems to be an "in-house" pewter job. The stein we have been discussing has a touchmark on the strap support which is the same mark as one on a serving set that I have and was identified as a Dumler & Breiden by David Harr.
