Sheila - what you see before the individuals name is the abbreviation for 'Einjahr. freiwillinger' or one year volunteer. In a lot of the cases, the individual was continuing their education, so they were accepted for military duty of one year - not rare, but not seen in great numbers. Might add a few bucks to the value if the right collector comes along.
