well now it looks like someone is trying to use there head clearly as in any collectible it is supply and demand no question . with that said as stated in some of the web sites a stein collector boasts that he has collected 14 varieties of bud man lets say mine would be a 15th variety wouldnt it stand to reason that a person that wanted to collect every variety known would pay a higher price for the one he didnt have especially if there were very few offerings of that item if there were only 2 known and 1000 collectors wanted it it would certainly bring a higher price than a common variety . now i dont know if any census information has been compiled by club you are in i was merely trying to tap the brains of people in the know. if you said jeff we know of no variety like this perhaps i would try to make contact with a person that would take a high interest in this item as apposed to praying that a person with this interest was watching ebay listings. i call it research. hallmarks can make a tremendous difference in the value of most items and if for some reason it is missing im sure the item would sell for a lesser price as it is then very difficult to verify authenticity . i guarantee you someone somewhere knows if this variety is scarce or common. prices realized on ebay are not the end all of value i could sell an item that is identical 10 times and realize a different final sale price each time due to a mutitude of factors. i purchased an item on an obscure auction site recently for 85.00 it has now been authenticated and is worth 4000.00 because the person did not have enough knowledge to state the item properly and did not put thorough photos of the item my knowledge of that item made me a handsome profit ,although it is in my private collection. i see nothing wrong with my logic or inquiry . only the initial response. thanks i dont think i will take the advice that one stein is the same as another and just put it on ebay and all will be well
