I believe you will find that most countries use the benchmark of 100 years for classifying an item as an antique, primarily for the purpose of calculating customs duty when the item is being exported or imported. However you will be hard pressed to find an antique dealer or an antique store that sticks to that standard. If so, they would have to reclassify half their inventory as "vintage."

I prefer the definition that anything older than I am, is vintage. And, anything older than my wife, is an antique. (Fortunately, she doesn't read this website.)
