I've had one regimental stein in my collection for a while now, and have tried to do some research on the designation given to the reservist. It is 'Gardefusilier Schreiber'. I have been unable to locate what exactly a Gardefusilier is. Schreiber served in the '10 Comp. Leib Garde Inftr. Regt. (1.Grolsh. Hess.) No.115 Darmstadt 1910-12'. Would this designation be for a more personal body guard of Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig? (maybe the lead guard or elite guard in the unit?). I've searched Ron Heiligenstein's book as well as John Harrell's book, but they only list a 'Gardist' or a 'Gardereiter'. Is it a rare designation? Any info you can provide would be appreciated!
