Hi Heather, You have found a nice stein. I have the same stein with slightly different coloring of the uniform and the eagle on the breast plate is white. Your stein is a Marzi & Remy, etched, .5L, manufactered in the early 1900's. The text can be translated as follows: "Whether knight, footman or nobleman, each one of them can drink happily". The individual pictured on the stein is called a "Landsknect" which was a feudal serf used by his master for military services (like a modern day mercenary except that he could be traded to other landowners and had no choice in choosing who they served). In mint condition, your stein is worth about $275 to $350.
