It seems that everyone who talks to Albert gets a slightly different story. I don't think he remembers things all that well and his factory records I believe are not entirely complete. There are three different stories as to the years Thewalt sold steins to Hauber and Reuther. Mike Wald had photo copies of the records and those indicated 1898 to 1907 and those are the dates I go by. However, I've seen copies of e-mails from Albert with different dates, 1899 to 1905 for instance. Have you ever seen one of these "small" steins that were produced before 1897? I never have. Has he provided model numbers? When Roland Henschen interviewed him years ago, I don't think there was any mention of pre-1897 production of steins of any size. I also have three Thewalt steins that Albert says Thewalt never made. Go figure. Ain't stein collecting great?
