The stoneware stein with the monks was probably made by Merkelbach and Wick ca.1890. A photo of the capacity mark would be of help. The porcelain stein is a product of the 1970s and the design is by Paul Neu, pronounced Noy, who died in 1940. His designs have out lived him and can be found on plates, saucers and coffee cups as well as beer steins. I don't know which factory made the porcelain stein.
