I bought this whimsical looking stein at an auction for $5. It depicts the bust of a smiling man dressed in the style of the early 1800's with a floppy red hat forming the lid. It is incised on the bottom with back-to-back E's over an H, "made in germany", 428, and 17. 428 is also under the handle. There is a chip out of the edge of the hat, and the glaze on the inside and bottom is crazed from age. Can anyone give me any information on this stein, such as who or what it represents, when it was made, and value? Thanks,
