Norm — The cost of producing a "fake" Mettlach #32 would require sales in quantities well beyond what a counterfeiter could reasonably expect to get away with before the fakes were identified by collectors. My guess is that what you've got is an example that has had the pewter polished to a like-new appearance or replaced, either of which will have a negative impact on value. However, the probability of your stein being a fake is close to zero. — fjl
