I have just received a German mug said to be more than 100 years old, and I am wishing to know its value and desirability in today’s market. I believe it is a Diesinger Stein, since it has incised markings on the bottom of: D.R.G.M. 154927 and Gesetzlich Geschutzt and Germany and “74”. Photos may be seen at http://photos.yahoo.com/dkuder@swbell.net The stein is 8 ˝” high and 3” across at the bottom. Additional markings around the top and side are: incised 0,5T just to the left of the handle and above the Frieze band at the top of the stein, and the number “74” appears in relief between the top and bottom handle attachments in addition to being incised on the bottom. The overall color is tan with dark blue used to show the details in the raised relief medieval tavern scene. The Frieze bands top and bottom are tinted with more of a navy blue color, and the handle seems tinted with more of a greenish-blue coloring. The pewter lid has a high ornamental decoration at the center-top of a rather simple “Hershey’s Kiss” shaped lid and a thumblift that is equally ornate and almost as high as the top of the lid ornament. If you could help me identify this stein, place a value on it, and tell me if it is considered rare I would appreciate it. Thank you. Deanna
