We recently were handed down a beer stein that belonged to my father inlaw. He was in the military and served in Germany some 45 to 50 years ago and purchased the stein during this time. We're hoping that someone can help us to identify this stein and possibly give us an approximate value. It stands 13 inches from base to tip top and is 1 1/2 Liter. It's very colorful, obviously hand painted, it depicts a hunting type scene, showing men (2) behind bushes with numerous animals surrounding the stein, some dead, (as morbid as that seems). There are deer and wild hogs depicted running through the "forest", with one deer and one hog that have obviously been killed. There is also a "fox head" within a "horn" depicted on the body of the stein down towards the bottom. The entire handle is a Fox, seemingly wrapping around the stein, glaring down on the entire "scene". The number 1032A is "stamped" (engraved), both on the body, and on the bottom. The bottom also says "Germany". The lid and thumb lift are pewter I would guess, somewhat ornate, with the letters "DBGM" stamped on the inside of the lid. The stein itself is made of some sort of heavy glass. The words "Die grune Heid' " as well as "Des Lagers Freud" also appear. Any information anyone can provide would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
