The second stein is definietly from the Jugendstil or Art Nouveau period, as evidenced by the handle shape, the brown glaze and the abstract/geometric incised design. I am quite sure it is not by R. Merkelbach, however, as it does not appear in their various records and the glaze does not have the same look and feel as the steins from that factory.
