I'm almost embarassed to ask this question. I've been collecting long enough that I should know the answer, but I never asked and don't think I've ever heard..... I was at a Carolina Steiner Chapter meeting this weekend and there were lots of steins for sale. Several of them were big -- 3L, 4L, 5L and more than one of each. These were not pouring/serving steins with spouts. (I have seen steins that are 10L and larger, but I imagine these were more for advertisement or decoration.) These were drinking steins. My question is, "Were these huge 4L & 5L steins ever really used to drink from?" Thanks.
